Mme. Feng Ying trained at the Beijing Dance Academy until 1979 when she joined the National Ballet of China. In 1982, she studied at the Opera National de Paris. She won first prize (solo) at the First National Dance Competition in 1985 and first prize (pas de deux) at the Second National Dance Competition in 1987.
In 2009, she was appointed as the Director and Artistic Director of the National Ballet of China. She has orchestrated the production of numerous world classic pieces and participated in dozens of international events to exchange new ideas with peers in other countries. As Ballet Mistress, she has trained multiple international ballet competition winners.
To nurture young ballet choreographers and aid in the development of Chinese ballet, Mme. Feng Ying started “Workshop” to experiment new choreographies and stage designs. She has organized various non-profit performances and lectures in schools, universities and communities, and inspired people to appreciate and enjoy the art of ballet. In early 2011, she participated in the International Directors Forum at the occasion of the 50th anniversary of the Stuttgart Ballet.
Mme. Feng was among the jury of the Asian and Pacific International Ballet Competition, the National Dance Competition, Benois de la Danse, 1st Beijing International Ballet and Choreography Competition, Helsinki International Ballet Competition, the Varna International Ballet Competition, and the USA International Ballet Competition.
